Dr. Jennifer A. Heissel

Quick Introduction

Dr. Jennifer A. Heissel is a senior economist at the RAND Corporation. Prior to joining RAND, she was an associate professor (with tenure) in the Department of Defense Management at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA. She is a Research Fellow at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, a Research Affiliate at the Institute of Labor Economics (IZA) in Bonn, Germany, and a  Faculty Affiliate at the Lab for Economic Opportunities at the University of Notre Dame.  

Her research is at the intersection of economics, public policy, and psychology. Her current research focuses on how family support policies can improve health and job performance outcomes for new mothers and fathers.  Her research also evaluates how education policies and programs affect student outcomes.  

She received a PhD in Human Development and Social Policy from Northwestern University and an MPP from the Sanford School of Public Policy at Duke University.
